Anglers were greeted with cool early-spring conditions for the March Open at Sandwich Lakes, but despite the temperatures the lakes still produced some solid weights across the two match venues, Damson Lake and Victoria Lake.

Damson Lake proved to be a tighter affair, with bites at a premium throughout the day. Itchy put together a consistent performance to secure 1st place with 17lb 1oz, finding enough fish to stay ahead of the field. Close behind was Neville Boakes, who took 2nd place with 15lb 4oz, just a couple of pounds short of the winning weight after a steady day on the bank.

Over on Victoria Lake, the fishing was far more productive with some impressive bags brought to the scales. Steve Collard dominated the section, putting together an excellent net of fish to claim 1st place with a strong 54lb 6oz. Bamba followed in 2nd place with 40lb 6oz, a quality weight but not quite enough to challenge the leader on the day. Victoria Lake also produced some great 30lb back up weights.

A big thank you to everyone who attended and supported the match. With the weather slowly improving, the sport is only set to get better in the coming weeks at Sandwich Lakes.
