Our Christmas Match produced a closely fought and highly competitive contest, with great improvements in the weather, conditions were perfect. Clear improvements across the board as all of our winning weights exceeded those recorded last month.
Ian Killeen topped the Damson Section with a solid haul of 32lbs 11oz, narrowly falling short of matching his impressive November performance but still doing enough to secure first place in his section. In the Victoria Section, Dan Warman put together an excellent weight of 36lbs 9oz, earning him the section prize after a consistent day’s fishing.
The standout performance of the match came from Fred Sykes, who drew peg 11 and made it count with a superb total of 38lbs 13oz, enough to claim the overall win and the £300 cash prize. Fred fished feeder across to produce steady bites throughout. The last two hours being the most productive for all anglers.
It was not a day without its frustrations, however, as Rob Tillbury suffered the disappointment of losing fish at the net, which ultimately cost him valuable weight and a potential place among the top finishers.
Overall, the match was an enjoyable and competitive way to round off the year, with encouraging weights for the time of season and plenty of optimism heading into the New Year fixture.
