Sandwich Lakes – Autumn Match Round 1
Sandwich Lakes saw the first of the Autumn Match series kick off on a brisk but sunny morning. Despite harsh weather the weeks before, both Damson and Victoria Match Lakes looked to be in top condition.
With £300 for winning first overall and £100 section prizes for Damson and Victoria up for grabs, there was a positive but competitive mood around the group before the draw at our Waterside Café.
By 9:00am the draw had concluded and the anglers were at their swims, ready to begin.
The day saw a closely fought match, it was John Warman (Peg 3) that claimed top spot on Damson with his weigh-in edging out neighbour Clive Eversfield (Peg 2) 31lb 15oz to 30lb 10oz.
On the opposite side we saw Ian Killeen comfortably take home his Victoria Section prize clocking his weigh-in at 35lb 8oz by the end of the day.
In the end, Kevin Killeen, (who was in charge of the weigh-ins) saw a familiar name take home the overall cash prize. With a total weight of 38lb 5oz, it was ‘Bamba’ (Peg 8) who ended the day on top of the podium. Well done to all who fished including young Daton Epps who fished his first match.
